World Streetnationals at Speed World Dragway

Once again in 2004 the staff and management of Orlando Speed World Dragway delivered one of the best drag races of the year in Florida, with their annual World Street Nationals. Racers and fans came from virtually all over the planet to be a part of the World’s largest “street legal” drag race.

A giant turnout of racers and fans made the 2004 World Street Nationals the largest event in the history of the Orlando drag strip, which first opened way back in 1966. In Super Pro Street 73 cars entered the event, Outlaw 10.5 had an incredible 92 entries, 64 cars entered Heavy Street, and 70 racers entered the Radial Tire category, making for a record total of 299 entries for the event. Only the quickest 32 qualifiers in each class get to run on race day. Chamber of Commerce weather was present for the entire race weekend, and the big winners of the event were Illinois racer Chuck Samuel in Super Pro Street, Georgia’s Tim Lynch in Outlaw 10.5, Michigan’s Rob Golobo in Heavy Street, and Californian Rick Head in Radial Tire.

The World Street Nationals once again proved to be a dynamite event, so be sure and mark the dates for this race on your calendar for 2005. The race will run on October 14, 15, and 16, of 2005. If you like high powered, unpredictable, wide open, heads up drag racing, don’t miss this event! Following is a run down of the results from the 2004 World Street Nationals, including finals in all classes with the winner and runner up performances, along with semi-finalist and quarter-finalist in all classes.
