The Spring Daytona Beach Car Show & Swap Meet marked its 20th Anniversary with the event on March 27-29, 2009. Held inside the legendary Daytona International Speedway, this is the second largest show in Florida (with only the Turkey Run, which is also held inside the Speedway, being bigger), so there is certainly plenty to see and do over the three days. Participants and spectators always look forward to the Spring Daytona show every year, and for many it is the first big event to kick off the new show season.
The car show portion averages about 1,500 vehicles each year, so there is no shortage of eye candy to keep you content all weekend. Another neat aspect of the Spring Show is that is has several “Shows Within The Show”, hosted by various car clubs. Those included ones for Monte Carlos, Mercury Cougars, PT Cruisers, Fieros, AMC’s (open to all Rambler, Jeep, Nash and Hudson vehicles), 1994-96 Impala SS (plus similar B-bodies), and “LX” Chrysler products 2004 and up.
One of the Spring show’s definite highlights is the swap meet. Here you’ll find all sorts of used “stuff” for sale to help you complete your latest project. Plus there are new parts vendors, and those selling collectables, garage related items, and clothing as well. The sky really is the limit on what you can find in the swap meet area, though you’ll have to be prepared to do lots of walking because it is so big. For those looking for a new ride altogether the car corral section offers rows and rows of choices, which we always enjoy wading through sometime during the weekend - even if we aren’t in the market for a new vehicle it is fun to see what is available, and for how much. Plus, you never know when that “once in a lifetime” opportunity will arise if you don’t expose yourself to it!
Now that the Daytona Beach Racing & Recreational Facilities District have hosted another great Spring Daytona Beach Car Show & Swap Meet, the focus turns to the upcoming 36th Annual Daytona Turkey Run on November 26-29, 2009. In case you aren’t already aware, the Turkey Run is not only the biggest car show in Florida, but also the entire Southeast. It is just around the corner now, and like most of you, we are already making our plans and getting excited! The Turkey Run is a show you certainly don’t want to miss....plus the cruising action along A1A is an experience all in itself. You can get more info online by visiting www.TurkeyRun.com. CN
