One of the unique event that happens in the sunshine state is the Lake Mirror Classic Auto Festival. We always enjoy attending, and this year’s 9th Annual event was held on October 19-21, 2007. One of the special aspects of this show is that it draws such a diverse selection of vehicles, because not only are there tons of hot rods, customs and classics displayed in a 16-block area of closed-off streets in downtown Lakeland, an awesome Concours d’Elegance is also held around Lake Mirror itself with 100 vehicles pre-selected. Both areas could hold the attention of an auto enthusiasts for days, looking at all the cool cars and trucks on hand.

An added bonus for participants, besides just having a great time, is that each car receives an attractive acrylic plaque to display which not only states the year, make and model, but also some interesting info that the owner has provided during the pre-registration process. You’ll see many of these plaques still being used as the owner attends other events throughout the year as well, since they are so nicely done.

Many Sponsor’s Choice ribbons were presented in the open car show area, while the Concours area received CCCA and AACA judging to narrow down the many elegant awards. Heacock Classic Collector Car Insurance is responsible for organizing this well run event, with many other sponsors contributing, allowing the show to be free to the public and support local non-profit groups.

For 2007 legendary race driver Sir Stirling Moss was named the Honorary Chairman. Moss is described as the greatest road-racing driver to never win the World Championship title, having competed in 501 events, finishing 382 or them and winning 173.

Next year’s dates have already been announced, so mark October 17-19, 2008 on your show calendar.
