This 1955 Chrysler 300 was issued to Yankees manager Casey Stengel in 1955, and subsequently given to Enos “Country” Slaughter of the Baseball Hall of Fame - who had a .300 lifetime batting average. Enos shared it with Clete Boyer until 1963, when it was sold to Leonard Shultis of New York for $550. Mr. Shultis stored the car in his 3-story barn, where it remained until 2003. 1955 was the first year for the 300 model, with only 1,725 produced, of which approximately 275 remain. It has a 331 Hemi engine with 300hp, Powerflite automatic, white leather interior, Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels with whitewall tires, weighs 4,005 pounds, and cost $4,109.00 when new. David and Evelyn Broxterman are the car’s third and current owners, and live in Lakeland, Florida.
