The Super Chevy Show is one of the major events for Chevy lovers, and this year marks the 27th Annual Tour. The popular series tours the USA, holding events in 18 locations. Enthusiasts here in Florida are blessed with the national kick-off location at Bradenton Motorsports Park, this year taking place on February 9-11,

The Super Chevy Show is known for two great aspects; racing and show cars. The combination is why it is hosted at drag strips around the country, and on February 9-11 it was Bradenton Motorsports Park’s expansive grounds that provided the stage to delight the bow-tie faithful.

On the track amateurs and professionals launched their vehicles down the 1/4 mile all weekend, with one of the favorite classes being the Nitro Coupes. These cars are equipped with supercharged engines on nitro methane, enabling them to travel the 1/4 miles in the low 6-second zone at around 240 mph to the delight of everyone at the track. In addition to the Nitro Coupes, fans liked the 300 mph Jet Funny Cars and the Wheelstander exhibitions.

The car show portion draws some of the nicest vehicles in the country. You could have seen a 1970-1/2 Camaro that was used as the full size example to build the 1:18 scale diecast model by Ertl, or a very rare 1969 Camaro Z/28 with a cross ram manifold. Also in attendance was a 1957 Chevy Belair convertible that looked like it just left the factory the day before, perfect right down to the correct markings on the springs. What made the car show even more perfect was the fact you were able to feel, hear and smell the high powered drag cars running the 1/4 mile a hundred yards away. It was Chevy heaven!
