While we here in the Sunshine State can have fun at cruise-ins and events year round, one of the biggest to kick off each year is the Spring Daytona Beach Car Show & Swap Meet. 2008 marked the 19th Anniversary of this show, and of course just one of the cool things is that it’s held inside the Daytona International Speedway. No matter how many times you have been inside the famed Daytona tri-oval, it is always a pretty special feeling. So much history has taken place, and so many people have had a good time within the confines of the high banks.
This year was once again blessed with pleasant weather, and a show car count that we’d estimate to be around 1,500 - including several “Shows Within The Show” hosted by various clubs. Obviously that is more than enough vehicles to keep even the most energetic of enthusiasts busy checking them all out....but there is also more to see and do. The swap meet was once again very big, and second only to November’s Turkey Run, also held inside the Speedway. There were tons of vendors selling new and used parts and accessories, so if you needed some stuff for that new project, or some cool collectibles to dress up your home or garage, this was a great place to be. For those looking for a new ride, the car corral is always phenomenal at both of the Daytona shows, and this year’s Spring event was no exception. We saw lots of sweet vehicles for sale, and some at very reasonable prices.
We’d like to thank the Daytona Beach Racing & Recreational Facilities District for hosting another great event. With the fun of the 19th Annual Spring Daytona Beach Car Show & Swap Meet behind us now, everyone is looking forward to the 35th Annual Daytona Turkey Run on November 27-30, 2008. This is the big dog of Florida car shows, and is certainly the place to be over Thanksgiving Weekend for die-hard auto enthusiasts. You can get more info by visiting www.TurkeyRun.com. We’ll see you there! CN
