The group from MAGS (Modeling Associates of the Gulf State) hosted the scale model contest, which was held in the air conditioned vendor building. They had a good turnout of entries, and it went over very well with the spectators too (we should know, as their booth was diagonally across the isle from ours, and there were always people checking out the many cool models). There were lots of awards in 14 categories, including Juniors and Miscellaneous, plus just like a regular car show their were many “Best Ofs” as well. Though I think most of the entries were by adults, there were some done by kids as well. I know I personally got started tinkering with model cars long before I was old enough for a real car, and I’m sure the same is still true for today’s youth. So let’s hope they take the next step too and become rodders....in both full and small scale.
