“First Date” is the name of Larry and Nancy Day’s 1939 Ford Standard Coupe resto-rod from Cape Coral, which is painted a very dark blue with a gray vinyl interior. I don’t know if the name is because this was what they drove on their first date, but it’s a beauty. They purchased it in unmodified condition in April of 1999, and the car was totally disassembled and reworked from the ground up, with completion coming in 2005. The 60hp flathead was replaced with a 351 Ford Windsor with 305hp, and other items include a C4 automatic, Heidt’s Mustang II front suspension, 8” Ford rear end, and 4-wheel disc brakes.
