Talk about a unique car!! Not overly successful, but unique. Here is the U.S. Turbine 1 dragster of Fling Traylor (real name) with George "Stone Age Man" Hutchinson at the wheel, running at Lion's Drag Strip in Long Beach, California. Note how low the driver sits in this rear engined, turbine powered car. The top of the roll cage is not any higher off the ground than the tops of the rear tires in this burnout shot!! Also note the ostrich plume on Hutchinson's helmet (sticking up over the roll cage), he was the first to run the ostrich plume, although a few others did later.
