The John Keeling and Jerry Clayton owned "California Charger" cars were always some of the best looking and best running nitro cars on the West Coast. Keeling, a TWA mechanic, and Clayton, a United Airlines pilot, had one of the most professional teams out of California during their years in competition, and they won several events. Shown here in 1972 at the PDA race at Orange County International Raceway in Irvine, California, driver Rick Ramsey stages up for a run under the lights in front of a huge crowd.
