This may be one of the most aptly named drag racing machines ever! This is Dale “The Snail” Emery at Fremont, California back in the 1960’s. He is at the wheel of the well known “Pure Hell” AA/Fuel Altered of Rich Guasco. This car was high on horsepower and low on wheelbase! This is not a burnout, they did not do burnouts back when this photo was taken. This an actual competition run! “Pure Hell” was one of the most popular AA/Fuel Altereds of all time, and a regular winner on the West Coast back in that day and age.
