Racing here at Lion’s Drag Strip is the wild Durachrome Bug, campaigned by Southern California racer Warren Gunter. While it raced in Funny Car action in 1970 and 1971, it was a thinly disguised Fuel Altered. The short wheelbase of the creation could make it a real handful to drive sometimes! Crossed up runs were not uncommon for the blown Chevy powered, nitro burning Volkswagen Bug. While it was never a performance leader, it was popular with the fans.
