Sporting a Jocko Johnson built body, this Garlits experiment didn’t quite work the way they had planned. This car obviously shows a Bonneville style influence to its streamlined body work. Unfortunately, the sleek body weighed too much and slowed the car down. In testing driver Butch Maas reportedly nearly “flew” the car, and the project was shelved. In the left side of this photo you will notice Don Garlits standing next to the car watching this run at Orange County International Raceway in Irvine, California.
