While in attendance for the 18th Anniversary Saturday Nite Cruise at Old Town, Jeff Barnes had a display board with his 1972 Ford Maverick Grabber that contained lots of info. It said that with the introduction of the Pinto, in 1971 and 1972 the Maverick’s mission changed. Instead of fighting with the imports, it became a sporty, inexpensive (both in purchase price and insurance rates) muscle car with a 302 V-8 with 210 hp in a 2,593 pound package for a base price of $2,519. Maverick production for 1972 included 145,931 2-Doors, 73,686 4-Doors, and 35,347 Grabbers. Jeff’s blue Grabber has black accent stripes, a blue vinyl interior, and an 8-Track player.
