The 5th Annual “Gear Up” For The Kids Airport Car Show, hosted by Signature Flight Support, was held on Saturday, November 20th, 2010 at the airfield at Palm Beach International Airport. Proceeds went to the Give Kids The World Village, which is a 70-acre non-profit resort in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. They have welcomed more than 75,000 families from all 50 states, and over 50 countries. For more information please visit www.gktw.org.
There were 120 registered vehicles, that received goodie bags in which they received a dash plaque, a T-shirt, and even a ticket for a free lunch consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers, beans, pasta salad, potato salad and desert.
Ocean Helicopters were busy throughout the day with rides, and the Fort Lauderdale Harley-Davidson Drill Team, consisting of 12 riders, put on a breathtaking show. You could also visit the Trauma Hawk helicopter, which provides air ambulance services for Palm Beach County. Raffles, a silent auction, and a 50/50 were held all day long, while the kids enjoyed the bounce house. Music was provided by DJ Donnie of the South East Rods & Customs car club, keeping things upbeat.
Awards were handed out at around 3:00pm to the five Best Of Shows, and one Signature Choice. Club Participation was won by the Corvette Club of the Palm Beaches, and the 50/50 was won by Phil Everett, who donated his $138 winnings back to the benefit.
Jim Marshall of Signature Flight Support would like to thank all of the car people and spectators for making this show a great success. It gets bigger and bigger every year, and we hope to see you all there in 2011.
