This year we added the Tom Staggs Memorial award....which was with great regret since Tom passed away from a heart attack at age 56 on April 3, 2006. Those who have attended previous Beach Blasts will remember Tom as the nice, even-tempered guy with the mustache that helped head up the parking and security duties. Tom was a great asset to many Beach Blasts, as well as a friend that we will miss dearly. Tom himself owned a 1969 Olds 442 convertible that was blue with black stripes, so when choosing the recipient for the first ever Tom Staggs Memorial Award it seemed fitting to give it to The Villages resident Ed Chamberlin and his red 1969 Olds 442 convertible. Not only is Eds car a real eye-catcher in its own right, it is also obviously one that Tom Staggs would have loved himself....as a fellow Olds 442 convertible lover. We miss ya, Tom!
