Bill Clark had a sign displayed with his 1956 Chevy Bel Air 4-Door Sport Sedan out of Stuart, Florida that said his Uncle “Fritz” Schultz bought this car new about three months after his father bought his ‘56 Chevy (the first car Bill drove at sweet 16). Fritz had it built at the Baltimore assembly plant, because the company he worked for all his life, American Hammer Piston Ring, made piston rings for the Chevy engines (a philosophy we Americans should follow today). The ‘56 was one of the few luxuries Fritz allowed himself, and he really took good care of it. When Uncle Fritz passed away Bill’s Aunt Melva kept the car in the garage in remembrance of him. In 1992 Bill offered to buy it, maintain it in its original condition, continue to give it the same meticulous care as Uncle Fritz, and keep it in the family forever. Aunt Melva is please that the car Fritz loved so much will be loved for generations to come, and we’re glad that Bill and Sandy Clark brought it to our Beach Blast 12 on May 21st, 2006. It only has 69,000 original miles, and is painted Matador red and Dune beige with a red pattern cloth and red imitation leather interior. It’s great hearing stories like this!
