Robin and Audrey Calwell of Melbourne displayed their 1962 Dodge Polara 500, along with an extensive info board. It said the car was one of about 6,500 ’62 Polara 500 2-Door hardtops built by Chrysler, and represented their first attempt at a personal luxury car with performance overtones. Dodge offered a dealer installed 343hp option for its 383 V-8 engine to make the car competitive at the drag strip under NHRA rules. Though this car originally had a 361 engine it now has a ’62 413 V-8 built to specifications for the 343hp version. The paint is "Vermillion", the interior is the original factory installed light beige & cocoa bucket seats with a burgundy carpet.
